Restaurants Buenos Aires – Milión – Mas o Menos!

Buenos Aires restaurant Milión, is a great favorite of the young, trendy and moneyed Porteños, it is truly a remarkable venue – a tastefully converted and wonderfully grand nineteenth century French style Buenos Aires town house on Parana Street, close (30 meters) to Santa Fe Avenue.

Milión has a dining room, cocktail bar and both a terrace and garden, for alfresco dining and drinking.  We love the venue. It is sheik and stylish with great ambiance. It is a classy joint and well worth a visit.

Milión’s fine cocktail bar (cocktails are generally poor in Buenos Aires) and the outside space makes this a great place to start your evening for drinks. The earlier evening provides an opportunity to sit back and enjoy this fantastic venue, your drinks and we hope your company.

We caveat the positive parts of our Buenos Aires restaurants‘ guide with two negatives.

Forget the restaurant. The service is poor, and the food too average to warrant the price tag. That is, unless you feel that the ‘see and be seen’ nature of this venue makes the expense worthwhile.

Later, the bar fills up quickly 23h00+. It is frenetic and the bar too small for the sheer numbers of people. Often a problem with popular cocktail venues – cocktails must be prepared so there is an inevitable wait. In addition, you have the added annoyance of having to queue to pay for your drink before you queue all over again to order your drink – it is a bit of a nightmare and the reason we will not go back in a hurry.

The bar is not orderly, and we noticed that regulars and friends got their drinks quickly no matter where they appeared in the queue, much to the dismay of some clientèle.

If you are lucky enough to get a seat there is waiter service, but the service is just as poor as when you dine.  They do not have enough staff, who seem only able to deal with one order at the time, so their many trips back and forth just wastes their time and yours .  Not what you would expect from such a high profile venue, but somewhat typical of many Buenos Aires more trendy restaurants that find success.
