Tango Tours – go underground!

For many Porteños, (the people of the port of Buenos Aires) tango is a way of life. It captures the passion and intensity that is Buenos Aires; tango is an expression of Buenos Aires’ very essence.

Tango dance and tango music constantly evolve, tango’s reincarnations capturing the hearts of souls of every new generation.  No dance form rivals the Tango’s sophistication and sensuality.

Our Buenos Aires tango tour is not about Hollywood glitz or cheesy shows that end with a Lloyd Weber number.  You have got this far and Buenos Aires Stay believe your tango experience should be through the eyes of the Tango movement’s disciples. We say disciples because tango is taken very seriously. To see a cheesy stage performance you do not need to travel to Argentina, we avoid the cheese and immerse our clients in the world of the true Buenos Aires tango.

Our “tanguero” (he who tangos) will take you on a magical journey into the very heart of tangos’ birthplace and treat you to a rip-roaring Buenos Aires tango tour well off the typical tourist beats.

Buenos Aires Tours Tango ArgentinoWe start our tour at the oldest café in town with presentation of the different Tango dance styles.
Then we whisk you off to an intimate bodega where our host is both chef and waiter to delight you with Porteño fare accompanied by a fine Malbec wine.

We complete our tour in one or maybe two (if you are a night owl) of Buenos Aires’ ‘happening’ Milongas.  A Milonga is often wrongly translated as a dance hall. Nothing like it!  A Milongo is where the tango aficionados meet to dance and demonstrate their particular tango styles amongst their contemporaries. The word is actually slang for party. Here men take the girls out to dance “cabeceando” (shaking of the head side to side), just like Buenos Aires tango dancers of yesteryear.

Our Buenos Aires tango experience is no show, our tour is tango for real.

The milongos might be held at social clubs, art-nouveau cafes, Belle Epoche ballrooms or private homes. The venues are ever-changing and adapting to the crowd. Our “tanguero” will ensure you are part of today’s main tango vibe.

***If dancing is not your thing, the sights and ambiance is most certainly all you need to enjoy this tour, however, we can also arrange some private lessons in a charming colonial setting. It takes two to tango, so if you need a dance partner just let let us know***.
