Gay Tango Buenos Aires – Gay Buenos Aires Stay Guides

Gay Tango Buenos Aires

More and more gay men and women, and gay couples are dancing tango.

Nowhere is gay tango more prevalent and at home than in tango’s historical ”cradle” on the banks of the Rio de la Plata in sultry Buenos Aires.

At Gay Buenos Aires Stay, we recently wrote an article about the history of tango in Buenos Aires.

Tango in Buenos Aires seems to have come a full-cycle, because all-male dance couples are not anything new to liberal Argentina that decriminalized gay sex in the 1850s!

It is also worth pointing out that homosexuality (and general acceptance of gay people and their right to equality) is finally our right in most secular States, with gay marriage and parenting equalities becoming the norm all over the world.  Argentina was one of the first countries in the world to protect gay rights and offer complete equality to gay people – BRAVO!!!!!!!

We think that Buenos Aires sets the highest standards in social acceptance and respect to its gay community and Porteños should be commended for creating a wonderfully bohemian city where just about anything goes as long you accord respect to those around you.

So it is no surprise to me that gay tango Buenos Aires and gay tango salons Buenos Aires are thriving in tango’s historical home and male coupling (its origins found in the nineteenth century) is once again the vogue.

La Marshall

Every Friday (Riobamba 416) gay men and women can dance tango at La Marshall.  Note that the venue used to move between two places, but Wednesday’s classes and milonga is closed.

In addition, Wednesday’s classes and milonga are no longer mentioned on La Marshall’s website, but the organisers neither respond to telephone calls nor emails, which is a shame, so I cannot confirm the changes.  Just so you know, it often takes over month to receive email responses from Argentine businesses!!!!!  It is sooooooooo annoying.

However, I have spoken to lots of people who highly recommend both the class on a Friday 22h30 to 23h30  and the milonga from 23h30, so it is well worth going along to have a look and please, please report back.
