
El Bolson
This small mountain village is situated in the southeast of Rio Negro, right in the angle that is formed by the Andes Mountain Range and the 42 nd Parallel which consists in the provincial border with Chubut.
Its landscapes are pretty wonderful. It displays a colorful mountain valley that ends up in Puelo Lake.
Among Sierras, their architecture style presents stone constructions with cypress tiled roofs in a countryside and wooded mountains frame where streams and falls are originated, turning the village into a paradisiacal place filled with fresh aromas.
Its inhabitants are the descendants of different cultural groups that have laid the foundations of the village. They practiced agriculture and the cattle breeding and with those activities they developed the village in what it is today.
Due the benign microclimate of the region they were favored for growing fruits among other cultures without the use of pesticides or agrochemicals. This is still carried out nowadays.
The most important industrial and commercial activity is the productions of handcrafted beer, which generates an important economical profit to the region. Due this fact inhabitants celebrate annually, the National Hops Festivity that is carried out on February.
Other important sustenance is the production of goat and sheep milk and its derivates.
All this production makes the gastronomy of the zone stand out for being very healthy and with great quality.
The handicraft work with wood and wool is a very common commercial activity.
As regards lodging, El Bolson possesses hotels, apparts, country establishments and high quality restaurants.
Las Grutas
This place is located over the Atlantic sector of Rio Negro over the San Matías Gulf, and is the second important place as long as tourism affluence to the province is concerned, after the city of San Carlos de Bariloche.
It displays 2.5 kilometers of warm sand beaches bathed with clear waters with gentle slopes. It is surrounded by huge cliffs where water, time and erosion have carved beautiful and magic caves that protect the locality from Patagonian winds.
The numberless shores offer the visitors sand dunes, ravines, clean and golden sand, and rocky formations in which mussels and octopuses hide.
Its architecture is based on a Mediterranean Style.
It is an ideal place for resting, sport fishing, walks, and scuba diving among others. The high concentration of silicon, sulfur, magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium and iodine of the sea water, give it hypertonic and curative properties. Due that fact, the tourism department is planning a future thalassotherapy center.
The village offers all the necessary facilities as regards lodging, such as hotels, bungalows and camping places among others. It also possesses high quality restaurants, specialized in sea fruits, as well as cafeterias, casino, and shops.
Its main season is during summer, when it receives the greatest movement of tourists.
San Carlos de Bariloche
This city was founded on May of 1902 over the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake, in Rio Negro. It is located on a privileged region with amazing landscapes made up of mountains, colorful woods, lakes, glaciers, streams and a numerous varied of flora.
It is one of the most populated cities of Rio Negro and the most important tourist center.
Its architecture it's characterized with stone constructions ornamented with wood, and slated gabled roofs. Among the most outstanding buildings we can mention The Civic Center, seat of the main official and government organisms.
It possesses an important commercial activity with fist brand shops, galleries, cafeterias and restaurants; as well as a very popular night life full of discotheques.
Barilcoche can be enjoyed during the entire year. On spring and summer seasons, it is ideal for carrying out outdoor activities and adventure tourism; on winter, the snow offers the possibility of skiing in one of the most important centers of the country and of America, The Mount Cathedral. On this season it is also the celebration of the famous Snow National Festival, an international, sporting, artistic and social event.
The regional chocolates, in any of its varieties, are considered to be the most appreciated souvenirs for all visitors in company with the regional fruits marmalades.
